Just Browsing http://getyourcomics.com/

Its an Irish site, run by Emmet Taylor I suspect

I was looking at Prices of Graphic Novels, and they have the Preacher GN's at 14.95 euro which is significantly cheaper than anyhwere in Dublin I think.

I bought a comic yesterday, Batamn and the Monster Men and it was 4 euro, they are selling at 3.50 which seems keen.

How do these prices compare to Dublin shops????

It's not well priced if your looking up anime.

Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex Vol.1
Eur 27.50

I got it for Eur 7 in Tower.

Just because we're fans dosent mean shops HAVE to screw us over.

I'd email them and say... can i just say Anime is a bugger to find wholesale cheaply.. Unless your buying in bulk the size of a warehouse.

Omg... i was NOT just defending them... i swear!

hahahah Ghost in the shell is a hard choice,, as HMV have reduced from about 30 euro doen to 7.99. I think its full price in Sub City as well.

Its a shame that HMV dont sell graphic novels

I wonder how comic prices compare, does anyone know teh shops actually exchange rates for comics?

Ok mabye I'm being harsh on the price front. But anime is so over priced it's not funny. It'se genuinely one of those areas where it's hard to justify the high costs if you know how the english language versions are made.

Rember when virgin megastore used to do comics? they had some great selections. They also used to do magazines much cheeper then everwhere else because they dident observe some of the import duty on magazines.

best of my knowledge Diamond Comics are the only distributors (for comics).
So the retail price is made up of the sterling price - discount(which varies by the quantities you buy) + Shipping (which went up with the cost of Oil). Convert that price to Euro's, depending on the exchange rate. Then add 13.5% tax... THEN add the profit margin of the store. And then you get the retail price.

The thing that makes the most difference is the Discount and the Store Profit.

Thats interesting to know.
Do the retailers not pay dollars?

Also. in the UK, most shgops are keen to point out the $- per price, and usual have a board por poster with said info.

James, what sort of prices are here?

Bought two comics, Ultimate Iron Man 5 and DMZ 2. paid 3.49 for them.

Now, a direct conversion should mean the pie in Ireland should be 5.10 euro.

How much are these comics in Ireland?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I reckon they'd be around 2.50-3.50. I think. Unless I'm wrong. Which, of course, is impossible.
