Our next meeting is on this comming Tuesday at 8pm,
in our usual venue, Bowes on Fleet st.
The subject for the night will be Manga.
We will be showing clips of the best and the worst, a look at the history
of the medium, the written format, how the style has infuenced 'western'
film and comics and what toys you can now buy.
So whether it be Battle of the Planets or Akira, hopefully there'll be
something for you.
As discussed at our last meeting We have now arranged a lan party for the
23rd of Feb.
this is where we pay for the use of PC's in a web cafe, and
we link the Pcs and play games with and sometimes against each other.
mostly this happens overnight
Does not Compute above the Bleeding Horse pub in camden street is the
venue, starting at a reasonable 5pm on Saturday evening and finishing
at around 11-12 later that night.
There is a charge of around 15 Euro, per person, they have a limit of 20.
So if you are interested we will be taking money
at the meeting and securing the booking during next week.

OCTOCON TABLE QUIZ 20.02.2002
Due to having had a cost overrun of a few hundred
pounds from Octocon 2001, we are having a table quiz
to raise funds, and to kick-start this years event.
20.02 Euro per table of four. Lots of wonderful prizes, and a
humongous raffle, to boot!
Octocon is also looking for a few new committee members.
they will be holding an open meeting for people to come
along to meet them, on Saturday 9th of February in the
upstairs room in Bowe's pub, Fleet Street, Dublin 2,
at 2:00 in the afternoon.
Sproutlore member and regular octocon attendee Mike simpson has set up a

There are some interesing interveiws and reveiws up already.
MeCon is the SF convention held annually in Queen's
University Belfast, and this year is no exception.
The dates are: Friday 8th March to Sunday 10th March.

A number of the sci fi club regulars, as well as a few
others, will be travelling to Belfast from Dublin. If
you're stuck for a lift, let us know, as we may be
able to help out.
Looking forward we hope the next meeting will be about alternitive
histories of ireland, and the April meeting a look at the works of Flann
O'Brein but these may change.
