Free Comic Book Day - 3rd May 2003
Thu 1st May 2003
If you have never read a comic before or stopped reading when Sandman finished then now you get the chance to see if there is anything out there right known that you like.
On Saturday, May the third you can walk into any comic shop in the world and pick up examples of the best that comics has to offer for free.
Timed to coincide with the release of the new X Men movie there is a surprisingly small amount of super powers in the mix of books. Batman and the X-Men are surrounded by Comedy, Drama, Crime, Alternative comics, Children?s stories, Satire, Science Fiction and Fantasy.
Creators such as Mark Millar, Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis, Alan Moore, Adam Kubert, Chuck Dixon and Frank Miller and many more are all submitting varying amounts of work.
One to look out for is 'Christa's 100% guaranteed how-to manual for getting anyone to read comic books!' It?s just bursting to win over people who don?t read comics at all. And looks like the strongest argument for anyone who loves comics and just wants more people to read them.
In Dublin you can go along to...
The Third Place - Crow Street, Temple Bar
Forbidden Planet - 5-6 Cramption Quay
