Douglas Adams RIP
Sat 12th May 2001
British humour writer Douglas Adams has died suddenly at the age of 49. He died on the morning of Friday 10th May 2001 in California, of a heart attack.
Adams achieved cult status for "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" series, which started life as a BBC radio drama and was subsequently adapted into novels, stage productions and a BBC TV series. He was also active in wildlife conservation, and was involved in the development of internet businesses, including the popular h2g2.com. He purchased the very first Apple Macintosh sold in the UK.
He had been working on the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" movie which has been in development for several years.
If it can be said that authors go to the worlds they created, then Douglas Adams can surely be found in Milliways, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
