Octocon knows where its Towel is

Sun 16th Nov 2003

Octocon knows where its Towel isOctocon is pleased to announce that Dirk Maggs & Roger Gregg are coming to Octocon in 2004.

For those who don't know, twenty-five years after the original radio series of DOUGLAS ADAMS' HITCH HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY exploded into the public consciousness, the further exploits of its bewildered hero ARTHUR DENT are being brought to life in their original medium.

Drawn from Douglas Adams' later Hitch Hiker novels, the adventures continue in LIFE, THE UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING, which will be dramatised in six half hour episodes, SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH and MOSTLY HARMLESS, which will comprise four episodes each.

The programmes are being adapted, co-produced and directed by Douglas Adams' original choice for the job, the multi-award-winning DIRK MAGGS (Radio 1's Batman, ITV's The Animated Mr Bean). Thanks to their early collaboration on the project, Dirk will ensure the Hitchhikers saga evolves on radio just as Douglas wanted it.

One of the key voice artists in the new show is Roger Gregg. Well known to everyone who has been to an Octocon over the last few years, Roger, has been writing and producing some of the best radio theatre of the last 10 years under the banner of Crazy Dog Audio Theatre.

We are greatfull they decided to come, we're really excited to have them and were looking forward to October even more.

Dirk and Roger add to an already impressive line-up of guests which features the award-winning Tanith Lee as guest of honour. John Kaiine, in addition to being married to Tanith, is a well-respected artist and writer. Octocon is also pleased to welcome back previous guests of honour, Storm Constantine, Harry Harrison, Ann e McCaffrey and Kim Newman.

The convention takes place in Chief O'Neill's Hotel in Smithfield Village, Dublin on the 16th and 17th October, 2004. Further details from the Octocon Website.
