James White and Walt Willis nominated for Hugos

James White and Walt Willis have both been nominated for Hugo Awards by members of the 2001 World Science Fiction Convention. The first Hugo or Science Fiction Achievement Awards, were presented in 1952 for work done in 1951. In recent years, Worldcons have organised 'Retro Hugos' to honour work done before the introduction of the Award. Millennium Philcon, the 2001 Worldcon, is continuing this tradition.
White has been nominated in the category of Best Fan Artist for 1950 while both White and Willis have been nominated in the Best Fan Writer Category. Slant, the Fanzine published by Willis, White and others, has been nomintated as best fanzine.
Members of Millennium Philcon will now vote on the awards which will be announced at a ceremony on Friday August 31 in Philadelphia.
