Dublin's twin to host next Worldcon

Now that Milennium Philcon has ended, ConJose is the 'sitting' Worldcon. ConJose takes place from August 29 to September 2 2002 and is of interest to Irish fans for two reasons. One: San Jose, the convention's venue, is twinned with Dublin. Two: members of Con Jose will decide the location of the 2005 WorldCon. At the moment, the only nominee is Glasgow, Scotland. A Glasgow WorldCon will certainly be more accessible for Irish fans than a US one. And not just because of distance. The Glasgow committee has proposed August 4 - 8 2005 as the dates for the convention. The dates were chosen to facilitate US fans who might have wanted to combine a WorldCon trip with a visit to the Edinburgh Festival, but by strange coincidence, that weekend is also the Irish bank holiday weekend.
