Farewell Andromeda

Mon 4th Feb 2002

After 30 years the Birmingham-based Andromeda bookshop has closed its doors. Shop owner Rog Peyton had been looking for new premises for some time after being informed that the building in which he was located was to be demolished and redeveloped. However. The shock announcement that the company would cease trading altogether was announced on the shop Website in late January.

Andromeda had an international reputation and Rog was a fixture at many conventions in the UK. The shop stocked practically every UK science fiction book in print (and quite a few that were out of print) as well as an extensive range of US hardcovers and paperbacks. It also hosted regular signing sessions.
