Just saw it. Very good, - stays very close to the book so no surprises there. It is dark, but then again the Human race is getting it's ass kicked is no bundle of laughts (OK there is Hitchhikers Guide).
Great visuals, does not get lost in CGI (most of the action takes place over the hill).
The ending is a bit cheesey, but so was the end of the original novel.
I liked it.
But there are some plot holes, but I won't discuss them now - no spoilers here. _________________ "Real heroes have a bald batch, bad teeth and a beer gut" - King Kong 2005 |

Apart from minor details like moving from Woking to New York?
Haven't seen it yet, but looking forward to it!
Any word from the UCGC on it? |

We will be meeting in our top-secret HQ next week, maybe Tuesday in a secret pub on Dame Street. The UCGC will make it's findings known then. |

I want half my money back.
The War of the Worlds was pretty good. But dear God, the Hallmark family drama nearly made me leave the cinema.
The Earth is being invaded by aliens who have a million year long plan and what do we get? We get a film about a man who has a tough time with his kids over a couple of days and ends up becoming a better person. If I never hear the name Rachel again it will be too soon. What a little muppet she was, can you picture the script?
Rachel: Crys
Ray: It will all right
Rachel: Crys
Ray: I will shield you from all the horrors around us
Rachel: Crys
And don't get me started on the son. Oh go on, get me started.
Then there is the good film, OMG the design on the machines was so good, the Red Weed, the blood, and the wholesale killing. We nearly saw a great batttle, but it was over the hill and young Steven made us wacth yet another moment of a family coming together.
Like I said, I want half my money back. |

Chip,
I would love to have seen you demanding half your money back. Cinemas should be more accountable for the quality of the films they show.
The family nearly had me cheering for the tripods, which were, of course, stunning. |

Hi all.
Sorry to say I hated Tom Cruise. He had to be in every shot up front, in your face. Didn't do it for me. The Aliens were brilliant also the Meck's. More of this and I would have been happy. As it stands Sorry people but is was Crap.
Cheers
