Crazy Dog Audio Theatre goes Beyond The Back of BeyondCrazy Dog Audio Theatre is back on RTÉ Radio 1 this July to take you into the weirdly paranormal Celtic world of Beyond The Back Of Beyond. Crazy Dog will be once more creating it’s distinctive style of exciting radio theatre featuring live performances, live music & sound effects and a live participating audience.

The six plays of Beyond The Back of Beyond, written and directed by Roger Gregg, follow the adventures of two private investigators; Maeve O'Casey and Matt Griffin, as they tangle with some of the mysterious creatures and unexplained phenomenon which lurk in the dark boreens of Irish folklore, Celtic myth and urban legend.

The Banshee’s Comb - broadcast 24 July The Griffin house is possessed and a fortune is at stake. Psychic medium Maeve O’Casey is hired to conduct a séance but discovers that the evil presence is not a ghost.

Howl of the Mactíre - broadcast 31 July On the lonely mountain above the village of Dun Mac Cutíre, something fiendish is on the prowl. Maeve O’Casey and her new partner Matt Griffin set a trap but for what?

Curse of the Golden Torc - broadcast 7 August David Norris guest stars as a famous archaeologist who mysteriously disappears while searching for an enchanted Golden Torc, our heroes must follow him into a magical dimension of the ancient Celtic gods of the De Dannan.

Return of the Bogman Mummy - broadcast 14 August. A team of scientists, assisted by David Norris, begin dissecting a 6,000 year old mummy found in a Cork bog. But once thawed out they discover that the Mummy is still very much alive! Our heroes are sent to find the missing mummy.

Strange Lights Over Gort - broadcast 21 August Our heroes Maeve O'Casey and Matt Griffin together with guest star Maria Doyle Kennedy have a close encounter with the strange unidentified objects flying over the Galway town of Gort, and even closer encounters with the strange people they attract.

The Final Face of Dr. Façade - broadcast 28 August. A bona fide health guru? Or brainwashing hypnotic cult leader? Dr. Façade does offer Happiness, but at what price? Maria Doyle Kennedy wears the final face.

The cast of Beyond The Back Of Beyond features such noted talents such as: Deirdre Molloy, David Murray, Owen Roe, Anne Byrne, Morgan Jones, Dermot Maggenis, and Georgina Miller.

Also included in the series are very special guest stars Senator David Norris and Maria Doyle Kennedy who, after their appearances in last autumn’s Crazy Dog Live series are anxious to hazard more radio adventure with the company.

The series is produced by RTE's Kevin Hough, the acclaimed producer of the Jacobs National Song Contest.

The series will be performed entirely live and recorded before live audiences in Studio 8 in the RTE Radio Centre.
