Wanna be in a Movie?

Fri 26th Sep 2003

Wanna be in a Movie? This Sunday, 28 Sep, Jay Tammamagi will be shooting footage for his new Zombie movie, Detained, and is looking for anyone who thinks they could be a zombie. It sounds like an exciting project, and Jay as agreed to be a guest speaker at the next Sci-Fi Club meeting where he will tell us more about the movie and hopefully show some footage.

Details follow.

WHAT IS IT? - We're shooting the final scenes of the short film, 'Detained', about a guy who realises that his entire world comprises of zombies. It stars Jarlath Conroy, from Romero's classic 'Day of the Dead' among others. The scenes reveal that the streets are also laden with the living dead.

WHO'D BE INTERESTED? - Anyone who's ever wanted to be in a zombie film. Anyone who is interested in special effects make-up at all or low-budget film making. Or anyone who just wants to get up early on a sunday morning for a bit of fun. Or anyone who has been out all night and doesn't fancy going home just yet.

TIME - Sunday 28th Sept. 5am for foreground zombies. 6.30am for background zombies. This is explained below.

LOCATION - Meeting outside the office of Monster Animation, 7 Mount Street Crescent, Dublin 2. Just by the Pepper Canister Church. A little map can be found here.

CONTACT - First person to look for when arriving is Meabh McGovern, our production manager. She'll be letting everyone know what is going on on the day. The crew will all be wearing name tags so if you don't know what do do and you see someone with a name tag then grab them. There is a contact email address and phone number for Jason Tammemagi, the director, below.

THINGS TO BRING - Please bring the oldest, crappiest clothes that you can. The closest people turn up to looking like zombies already, the more they'll be featured. Bear in mind that the make-up may not come off light coloured clothes so don't wear anything you're too attached to. Also, the shoot is outdoors so bring something warm to wear also. The weather forecast is good but bring an umbrella just in case!

We will only have time to make up a small number of foreground zombies so, if you'd like to be one, try to contact me in advance just to let me know. Background zombies will be all-important but will need far less make-up, which is why they can turn up later. We're hoping to get as many background zombies as possible so feel free to bring anyone interested.

Coffee, tea and biscuits (I'm taking requests) will be provided. Almost nowhere will be open at that ungodly hour of the morning so try to bring anything else you think you may need. There could be a bit of waiting around at times but we hope to finish up between 9am and 10am (actual shooting will begin at around 7am) so it's not going to drag at any stage. Feel free to bring a camera if you like.

It's most likely going to be chaotic and crazy but it should be a lot of fun. Once you go zombie, you'll never go back!
